Reunion sets my own poetry about the poignancy and bittersweet emotions of a family reunion after months of pandemic-induced separation. It was commissioned jointly by Joyful Noise, Cambridge Common Voices and the Central Illinois Youth Chorus for a performance on Zoom during the COVID-19 pandemic (please see “about the premiere,” below). The music therefore incorporates the latency of the internet as part of the aesthetic, using aleatoric and asynchronous repetition of phrases. It may also be performed in-person. The cello part is included in your purchase of the score.
