Reunion sets my own poetry about the poignancy and bittersweet emotions of a family reunion after months of pandemic-induced separation. It was commissioned jointly by Joyful Noise, Cambridge Common Voices and the Central Illinois Youth Chorus for a performance on Zoom during the COVID-19 pandemic (please see “about the premiere,” below). While this version was created for in-person performance, the music incorporates the latency of live-remote performance as part of the aesthetic, using aleatoric and asynchronous repetition of phrases. The cello part is included with your purchase of the score.
