Created for online live stream performance or video conference, “Here I Am embraces” the inherent latency of online video conference platforms. Most of the work is in aleatoric format, where singers are asynchronously singing specific phrases in repetition. I composed it at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, to help choral singing continue during the time of isolation with new repertoire for live-remote performance.  “Here I am“ was a gift to the choral community during that difficult time, and continues to be given for free.  It may now be performed in-person, and can serve as a reflection on the importance of community in times of hardship.
